Features of Natural Interest

This volcanic landscape is host to a variety of geological features including 20 caves of which there are five distinct types; lava caves, fumaroles, sea caves, erosional caves and fissure-type caves. First evidence for these caves was provided by English adventurer William Dampier in 1701, who discovered water in a shallow shelter subsequently named “Dampier’s Drip”.
